Most comeback albums are either pale replicas of the past or bad imitations of current trends. Soft Bonds surprises and excels in that it makes previous Insides efforts feel like a lead up to this release. Kirsty's vocals are already superb and a given, it is the beautifully restrained and eclectic backing tracks that elevate this release and don't mire it in any time period.
